An orbital floor sander is generally used in order to perform a light sanding over flat surfaces, it works best at completing the finishing passes on timber floors, cork floors, and parquetry floors and for sanding between coats. The machine itself is relatively light, being able to be transported in more sized cars, small or large, and lifted by 2 people.

The speed at which you can sand is dependent on both your skill set and the machine in use, however, on average you can expect to take around 30min per square metre for a high-quality finish.
4. What type of sandpaper to use on the floor/deck?
The sandpapers used are dependent on what type of sanding you require, i.e 24 grit sandpaper is coarse and will abrasively sand more off, leaving a rough finish; whereas 120 grit sandpaper is fine and will provide a smooth finish without taking off the volume. Popular sandpaper is 80 grit.
