Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How much does it cost to rent a stump grinder?
A. In Australia the price to hire/rental a stump grinder can range between $150- $300 over a 24-hour hire period; this difference is dependent on the machinery quality, size and hire services.

Q2. How much does it cost to grind a tree stump?
A. On average it costs between $140- $400 per stump to have them professionally removed, therefore with our hire charge being as low as $120 for a half-day hire, it is not only cost-effective but also convenient to rent when removing either one or multiple stumps.

Q3. What does a stump grinder do?
A. A stump grinder is a landscaping/horticultural machine used to proactively remove tree stumps after a tree has been cut down; opening up the land and allowing for new growth. It does this by gradually cutting away layers of the stump with a series of rotating blades.

Q4. How long does it take to grind a stump?
A. On average it takes between 10-15 years for an untreated tree stump to naturally decompose; however, with a stump grinder, it can be removed within 15-45 minutes depending on the stump size, wood type and moisture content.

Q5. Does a stump grinder remove roots?
A. Generally, a stump grinder is hired in order to remove the stump after the roots of a tree have already died naturally, however, post grinding treatment such as salt, herbicides and nitrogen can be added after the stump removal in order deter root re-growth.
